2013 Queen, Wendy Shu

Wendy Shu spent her childhood moving around the country but eventually settled with her family in Southern California when she was ten-years-old. After graduating from Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, she attended USC and studied International Relations and East-Asian Languages and Cultures. The dual degreee taught her to appreciate the ongoing relationship the United States has with Asia and the role Asian-Americans play in maintaining that connection today. After graduating with honors, Wendy remained at USC and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Gould School of Law. During that time, working with various clinics made her aware of the diversity in Los Angeles, and she currently looks forward to a rewarding career in investment immigration law. Wendy was inspired to participate in the Miss Chinatown pageant because she believes that Chinatown contributes to what makes Los Angeles so cosmopolitan. She wants to be deeper involved with a community interested in both tradition and innovation, where the progress forged transcends the individual and can reach across the world.
